Plot

Set in 1825, a struggling composer named Max arrives at Heidelburg University, where he quickly captures the heart of local girl Veronika. She supports him financially, aiding his education and helping him settle debts. However, Max's affections shift to the beautiful tourist Helene, unaware that she is the Grand Duke's daughter, which spells trouble for their budding romance. Veronika, left heartbroken, must navigate her feelings as Max pursues a love that seems destined to fail. Grete Natzler, who stars as Veronika, later transitioned to the name Della Lynd and appeared alongside Laurel & Hardy in Swiss Miss.
