Plot

Amid the chaos of the Korean War, a Marine rifle platoon faces a crisis when their lieutenant is killed in action. Just before his death, he promotes the platoon’s black sergeant to lead. The sergeant quickly realizes he must navigate tensions with two challenging soldiers: a seasoned private who doubts his authority and a bigoted Southern man who refuses to accept orders from him. As the conflict unfolds, the sergeant strives to unite his men and prove his leadership in the face of prejudice and adversity.
