Plot
Arsène Baudu and Hyacinthe, two bumbling petty thieves, find themselves ensnared by the cunning Alexandre Larsan-Bellac, who drags them into a series of elaborate scams. Their misadventures take a turn for the worse when they’re outsmarted by the alluring widow, Mrs. Paterson. Complications arise when Ribeiro, a Portuguese contractor and former target of their cons, tracks them down and demands they repay their debts by laboring on his construction site. Just as they settle into their new predicament, Larsan-Bellac reappears with a scheme to ensnare Ribeiro once more.
