Dawn, a young girl raised by Mooda, an African woman in a German military camp, finds herself torn between two worlds. She falls for Tom Allen, an English rubber planter held as a prisoner of war. Meanwhile, Shep Keyes, aligned with the German forces, desires Dawn but knows she's devoted to the tribal god, Mulunghu. As tensions rise, Shep attempts to turn the local tribes against her. After Tom is sent back to England, he discovers Dawn’s origins and seeks her out. Ultimately, a storm brings hope, and Dawn's faith leads to her union with Tom.
