Lonely and adrift in Fremont, California, Donya, an Afghan refugee and ex-translator, navigates her twenties in a haze of insomnia and survivor's guilt. Working at a fortune cookie factory, she crafts fortunes while grappling with her past and the loved ones she left behind in Kabul. Her sessions with an unconventional therapist offer little solace as she yearns for connection. As Donya searches for love amidst her struggles, she confronts the haunting memories of her homeland and the challenges of starting anew in a foreign land.
