Plot

After his brother Peter contracts measles, Tom is sent to live with Uncle Alan and Aunt Gwen in a flat devoid of a garden, where the elderly Mrs. Bartholomew resides above. Isolated and unable to play outside due to potential contagion, Tom struggles with boredom. One night, as sleep eludes him, he hears the communal grandfather clock chime an unusual 13 times. Intrigued, he explores and discovers that the drab little yard has transformed into a vibrant, sun-drenched garden, leading him into a magical world that offers companionship and adventure.
