Plot

In 1939 Germany, Hans and Lene celebrate their wedding just as war looms on the horizon. Soon after, Hans is dispatched to the Eastern front, where their daughter, Anna, arrives amid a devastating bombing raid. With their home reduced to rubble, Lene and Anna seek refuge with family in Berlin. Although Hans returns alive from the conflict, he is irrevocably changed, struggling to reconnect with Lene and adapt to life post-war. Their once-happy relationship faces profound challenges as they navigate the scars left by a world torn apart.
