Plot

With the war drafting most men, Howard Oil Supply Company struggles to find salesmen. Determined to help, Jean takes matters into her own hands, hitting the road to make sales but finds little success. A potential deal with Black Hills Oil Co. hinges on a dinner invitation from Earl. To secure housing in Clayfield near Camp Clay, she persuades Lt. Mallory to pose as her husband for registration. Complications arise when his commanding officer mistakenly believes they're married, followed by unexpected visits from both Jean's father and Don's mother, escalating the chaos.
