In 16th-century Spain, poet and playwright Miguel de Cervantes finds himself imprisoned by the Spanish Inquisition alongside his servant. Accused of presenting a performance deemed offensive, they face hostility from fellow inmates, who aim to seize Cervantes' belongings. To protect a precious manuscript, Cervantes orchestrates a creative defense by transforming their grim surroundings into a stage. Enlisting the help of his fellow prisoners, he brings to life the tale of Don Quixote, blending humor and poignancy in a desperate bid for survival through the power of storytelling.
