Between 1993 and 1999, Budapest was gripped by the audacious heists of a mysterious figure who robbed 29 banks, post offices, and travel agencies. With no solid leads, the police struggled to catch the elusive thief, leaving behind only a lingering scent of whiskey at each crime scene. Dubbed the "Whiskey Bandit" by the media, this charming criminal garnered public fascination for his non-violent escapades. Eventually, authorities zeroed in on Attila Ambrus, a Transylvanian immigrant and hockey goalie, but the capture was only the beginning of a much more complex story.
