Originally envisioned as a stage production, Balifilm emerges from Peter Mettler’s evocative diary entries and sounds gathered on Bali between 1990 and 1992. Accompanying the film is a live soundtrack featuring eight Gamelan musicians, who masterfully perform on traditional Indonesian bronze and wooden instruments. This work serves as a deeply personal and poetic exploration of Bali's vibrant culture, capturing its artistic essence and rhythmic vitality.
