Plot

Ephraim Cabot, a vigorous and greedy patriarch, fiercely clings to his New England farm, a legacy that has burdened his two deceased wives. His most resentful son, Eben, believes he deserves sole ownership, as his mother once held significant claim. The situation intensifies when Ephraim introduces his new wife, Anna, who becomes a rival for the farm's inheritance. As tensions rise, Eben pays his brothers to leave, seeking to eliminate competition. Meanwhile, Anna stirs the pot, igniting a complicated relationship with Eben that threatens to further unravel the family's already fragile dynamics.
