Plot

Bitter Seeds delves into the dire situation faced by cotton farmers in central India, ensnared by Monsanto's genetically modified seed initiative. Denied loans from traditional banks, these farmers turn to predatory moneylenders, incurring crippling debts exacerbated by poor crop yields and escalating costs for fertilizers and water. Tragically, over 200,000 have resorted to suicide, often through Monsanto’s pesticide. Amidst this despair stands 18-year-old Manjusha, the daughter of a farmer who took his life. Aspiring to be a journalist, she seeks to uncover the truth behind these tragedies, embodying the fight for justice and dignity for her community.
