Plot

In 19th century England, a renowned brain surgeon intervenes to save a wrongly accused former student from execution, whisking him away to a secluded abbey. There, the surgeon manipulates his pupil into aiding him in an experimental study of the brain's functions, using unfortunate victims rendered lifeless by a sinister drug known as "black sleep." As the student and the daughter of one of the victims delve deeper, they uncover a chilling truth: the subjects are alive but trapped in a dungeon, suffering from horrifying physical and mental afflictions.
