Marihuana (1936)

Plot

Burma, a young girl, enjoys a carefree beach party with her boyfriend, where she experiments with marijuana alongside friends. This reckless decision leads to unexpected consequences: she becomes pregnant, and a tragic drowning occurs during a nighttime swim. To secure their future together, Burma and her boyfriend begin working for a drug dealer. However, their plans take a dark turn when her boyfriend is murdered during a transaction, forcing Burma to navigate the dangerous world of narcotics alone. Ultimately, she rises to power in the drug trade after making the heart-wrenching choice to put her baby up for adoption.
