Set in 1908, Sultan Abdul Hamid faces mounting challenges from the Young Turk party, which threatens his reign over the Turkish Empire. To quell unrest, he permits Hilmi Pasha, their leader, to return from exile and establish Turkey's inaugural constitutional government. As tensions escalate, Kadar Pasha, the police chief, orchestrates the assassination of Hassan Bey, framing the Young Turks to justify his crackdown. Amidst the turmoil, Abdul becomes enamored with a visiting Austrian singer. Her rebuff puts her and her fiancé, a Turkish officer privy to the truth behind Hassan Bey’s murder, in grave danger.
