Officially, East Germany denied the existence of marginalized youth cultures, labeling subcultures like goths, skinheads, punks, and neo-Nazis as Western social deviations. In the late 1980s, director Roland Steiner gained rare access to these young individuals. Over four years, he documented their stories, seeking to uncover the allure of these identities and the motivations behind their choices. Through candid interviews and intimate footage, Steiner sheds light on a hidden world, challenging the state's narrative and revealing the complexities of youthful rebellion in a repressive society.
