Plot
Father Michael McKinnon arrives in Boston in 1935, deliberately steering clear of influential couple Arthur and Eleanor Barret. Meanwhile, the Barrets face their own struggles with parenthood; Arthur's sterility prompts them to enlist Harvard law student Roger Martin to help conceive a child. Complications arise when Roger unexpectedly develops feelings for Eleanor, creating a tangled web of desire and moral dilemmas.
