Plot
Set against the backdrop of World War II in Western Germany, Private David Manning faces a harrowing decision as he abandons a gravely injured comrade in his quest for his missing platoon. Upon discovering that his entire unit has perished, he seeks a discharge due to mental distress. Instead, Manning is unexpectedly promoted to sergeant and tasked with leading a fresh group of inexperienced recruits.
