Plot

In "The World, the Flesh and the Devil," Ralph Burton, a miner, endures a harrowing entrapment after a cave-in. After painstakingly escaping, he discovers a desolate world ravaged by nuclear catastrophe, with humanity seemingly wiped out. Arriving in a ghostly New York City, Ralph establishes a solitary existence until he unexpectedly encounters Sarah Crandall, another survivor. Their budding companionship takes a turn when Benson Thacker arrives by boat, sparking rivalry and conflict among the trio. The tension escalates, especially between Thacker, a white man, and Burton, a black man, as they navigate their new reality.
