Plot
A Gypsy family navigates the perilous roads of France during World War II, accompanied by young Claude, who yearns for a new family after losing his parents. They arrive in a familiar town, only to discover that new laws threaten their nomadic lifestyle. With the support of Mayor Theodore and schoolteacher Miss Lundi, they face arrest and are sent to an internment camp. Theodore orchestrates their escape, giving them land to settle. However, the family's longing for freedom clashes with their new life, prompting them to flee once more when their allies are detained.
