Plot

In 1981, the streets of Botoşani, Romania, were alive with chalk slogans written in bold uppercase letters, calling for freedom and better living conditions while reflecting the democratic shifts in nearby socialist nations. The mastermind behind these messages was a schoolboy named Mugur Călinescu, whose actions attracted the scrutiny of the Romanian secret police. Gianina Cărbunariu, a talented theatre director, transformed this compelling history into a documentary play, shedding light on the bravery of youth during a time of political oppression and the quest for change in a repressive regime.
