Plot
Set in the pre-World War II era, as England grapples with lingering effects of the Great Depression, a young man named Melvyn Hayes struggles to escape his grim environment. He becomes entangled with local criminal Herbert Lom, who terrorizes their impoverished community, including Hayes' own family. As Hayes seeks a way out, he spirals deeper into a life of crime, moving from petty thefts to increasingly violent acts. "No Trees in the Street" vividly portrays his descent into darkness and the harsh realities of life in a forgotten slum.
