Romántico (2005)

Plot

Romántico is a documentary centered on Carmelo Muñiz Sánchez, a Mexican musician who comes back to his cherished daughters after years of performing in San Francisco's taquerías and trendy venues. However, upon his return to his hometown, he is quickly faced with the hardships that prompted his initial journey across the border. Although he plays at mariachi events like weddings and quinceañeras, as well as in bars frequented by sex workers and their patrons, Carmelo realizes he struggles to provide for his family. At 60 years old, the idea of crossing the border again feels daunting, yet he remains determined.
