Amid the devastation wrought by atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a fierce conflict erupts between Japan's military leaders and government officials over the Allies' call for unconditional surrender. Army Minister Anami champions the cause to continue fighting, even at the cost of countless lives. However, Emperor Hirohito, alongside his advisors, advocates for a peaceful surrender, challenging the military's resolve. As a coup brews against the Emperor's government, Anami grapples with a profound dilemma: uphold his beliefs or remain loyal to the Emperor amidst a nation on the brink of collapse.
