Plot
Set in 19th-century Ireland, this historical drama chronicles the struggles of impoverished tenants wronged by the avaricious landowner, Captain Boycott (Cecil Parker). United under the leadership of the determined farmer Hugh Davin (Stewart Granger), the community decides on a path of peaceful resistance, shunning their oppressor. As Boycott attempts to salvage his tarnished image, he drains his wealth in a desperate bid to regain favor, ultimately betting everything on a horse race. The film captures the resilience of the oppressed and the lengths to which the powerful will go to maintain their status.
