Plot

Expecting a child and dissatisfied with her marriage, Rose (Dana Delany) escapes to a rural Tennessee home for unwed mothers in this adaptation of Ann Patchett's novel. After giving birth, she chooses to stay and forms a bond with a wise, elderly nun (Sada Thompson) while developing feelings for Son (Clancy Brown), a charming handyman. As life appears to settle into a new rhythm, the arrival of Rose's estranged husband brings her tumultuous past rushing back, forcing her to confront unresolved issues and make pivotal choices about her future.
