Plot
Nineteen-year-old Miguel "Sugar" Santos aspires to break into American baseball, a common dream for many young men in the Dominican Republic. His impressive skills as a pitcher earn him a position on a single-A team in Iowa. However, as he navigates the challenges of cultural dislocation, racism, and the pressure of professional sports, Sugar finds that achieving his dream comes with unexpected hardships.
