Plot

Symphony conductor Sir Alfred De Carter entrusts his conservative brother-in-law August with the care of his young wife, Daphne, while he embarks on a short trip to Europe. Concerned for her fidelity, August hires a private investigator to monitor Daphne’s activities. When the detective's findings hint at an affair with Sir Alfred's secretary, the conductor's mind spirals into a whirlwind of revenge fantasies.
