Plot

Set in a quaint 1870s Pennsylvania town, Sally Waterson and her father, part of a traveling medicine show, face an unexpected setback when their wagon bursts into flames. Left stranded, they find refuge with Mrs. Cortlandt and her ambitious grandson, Peter, who dreams of creating an oil pipeline across the state. As Sally and Peter's romance blossoms, they decide to marry, but their happiness is challenged by obstacles both in their relationship and Peter's ambitious plans. The journey ahead is anything but straightforward for the young couple.
