Plot

Takezo, a once wandering samurai, decides to leave behind his errant lifestyle for a simpler life of farming on the outskirts of a village. Despite being courted by the powerful Shogun as a teacher and vassal, he declines, instead embracing solitude and nurturing crops. His tranquility is disrupted by the arrival of Otsu and Akemi, both vying for his affection. As the year unfolds, Takezo helps the villagers fend off bandits, reconciles with Otsu, and accepts her love. Ultimately, he prepares for his fateful duel against the skilled Sasaki Kojiro on Ganryu Island.
