Wild River (1960)

Plot

A young bureaucrat with the Tennessee Valley Authority travels to rural Tennessee to manage a dam construction project. He faces resistance from locals, especially a farmer who disapproves of his hiring black laborers from the community. The narrative centers on the contentious eviction of a determined elderly woman from her island home, intertwined with the bureaucrat's burgeoning romance with her widowed granddaughter.
