Plot

Following her husband's tragic death in a fire, a determined woman, played by Susan Hayward, faces the challenge of raising her young son and managing their farm alone. As she welcomes a wandering handyman into their lives, romance blossoms. However, the relationship sours as the handyman's tough love approach toward the boy creates tension and resentment. His harsh methods, intended to toughen the child for the rigors of frontier life, only deepen the rift, leading to a compelling struggle for family harmony amidst adversity.
