Set against the turbulent backdrop of 1937 near the Dominican-Haitian border, Marie, a young Haitian woman, awaits her first child with her loving Dominican husband, Frank. After burying her mother, she is jolted awake by chilling cries in the night. The brutal "Cut" has commenced, targeting Haitians based on their ability to pronounce the word "perejil" (parsley). With her life on the line, Marie embarks on a desperate journey to find Frank in the neighboring town, armed only with her courage and the clothes she wears.
