America Unearthed (2012)
S03E07 Marco Polo Discovers America
Episode Overview
Located just east of the San Francisco Bay Area are the Berkeley Hills Walls, a series of stone remnants that extend over fifty miles. Some sections rise as high as six feet and consist of tightly fitted limestone boulders. Scott finds it fascinating that the origins and purpose of this wall remain a mystery. The only comparable structure is the Great Wall of China, leading him to ponder whether ancient Asian explorers reached the North American West Coast. In his research, Scott uncovers clues suggesting that the Chinese, with their vast maritime fleet, may have arrived in the New World, possibly guided by maps from Kublai Khan. He also finds evidence that European explorers, including Marco Polo, were aware of these monumental voyages.
