Tommy makes a move to buy the hospital, planning to dismiss Kate once the acquisition is finalized. Meanwhile, Valerie continues her secret affair with Danny, while Jack confronts Danny, revealing he knows about their connection. Elizabeth is readmitted after another brutal encounter with Andy, who retaliates against Dennis when he tries to help Elizabeth break free from her abusive situation. A patient arrives in the E.R. with a mysterious biohazard that quickly starts affecting the staff. After Kate advocates for the hospital, Jack agrees to counter Tommy’s bid, but only if Phillip agrees to fire Danny. As Kate and Tommy threaten to unveil each other's secrets, Diane faces scrutiny over her work, leading her to decide on a research trip to Africa. Tommy seeks Aaron's backing, while Camille, feeling undervalued, chooses to resign. Realizing the lengths Tommy will go to ruin her, a desperate Kate takes their daughter and goes on the run.
