Episode Overview
Billy rushes home just in time to rescue his dog, Gordie, from a fire consuming his apartment. He ends up staying with a hesitant Danny until he can secure a new place. Meanwhile, a sleepless Alan is overjoyed when Diane steps in to help with their teething daughter, Alicia. In a tense situation at the hospital, a racist teenager on the transplant list declines the heart of a murdered Black teen, leading the boy's mother to sue for her son's heart. Alan decides to reconnect socially by asking Diane out on a date. After Kate neglects pre-op lab results, a transplant patient dies post-surgery. Danny sets aside his dislike for Gordie long enough to notice the dog’s serious condition, ultimately saving his life through quick action.
