When the ranger from the fire tower reaches out, he's in turmoil over losing his job and seeks Joel's help. Joel manages to calm him down, but after spending 15 years alone, he realizes he needs some time to process everything. Meanwhile, Adam sabotages Maurice's plans for a fireworks display on President's Day because he believes the crew is there to target him. On a fishing trip with Chris, Ed gets hit by lightning, triggering a deep sense of depression as he starts to ponder the reasons behind his misfortune.
