Episode Overview

For forty years, Theresa and Cyn have been inseparable, but it often feels like Theresa's life has taken a backseat to Cyn's needs. When Theresa encounters Gabe, a charming trumpet player, Cyn becomes upset at the thought of her friend flirting with him. As Cyn prepares for her driving test for the fourth time, a tipsy Theresa jokingly suggests that driving skills come after passing the test and that Cyn would succeed if someone else took it for her. After Gabe stays the night, Theresa feels rejuvenated, enjoying a sense of freedom she hasn’t felt in years. Later, Cyn calls to share her latest test failure and asks Theresa to come over. When Theresa mentions Gabe’s visit, Cyn's anger simmers beneath the surface. Cyn then drops a bombshell, claiming Gabe is abusive, leaving Theresa heartbroken, as she had hoped he was different. Cyn offers support but quickly shifts the focus to her driving test, insisting on dying and styling Theresa’s hair to match her own.
