S05E04 Sea Serpent Pen Holder
Episode Overview
Master saddler Susie Fletcher faces a challenging restoration with a beloved leather satchel that has seen better days. It was originally purchased by owner John’s grandfather at a Cairo market during World War II. The market was bombed, but the soldier managed to escape with only a shrapnel injury, leaving a bloodstain on the satchel as a reminder of that harrowing day. Meanwhile, horologist Steve Fletcher applies his skills to a Victorian clock with a remarkable wartime tale that once captured national attention. This clock has been cherished by owner Wendy's family for over a century, proudly displayed in her grandparents’ Kent pub, but it has sadly fallen silent for decades. Additionally, silversmith Brenton brings his artistry to a unique piece—a bronze sea serpent pen holder crafted by owner Alan’s great-grandfather, who had a flair for creating whimsical curiosities.
