WJM-TV is shaken up once again with major changes in the executive team, leaving everyone but Ted Baxter without a job. The new station manager is determined to boost WJM News to the top of the Minneapolis ratings and inexplicably believes Ted can help achieve that. The team shares a heartfelt farewell, shedding tears as Mary expresses her gratitude for the surrogate family they've become. Lou, in a rare moment of emotion, tells them, "I cherish you people." They bravely exit the office, singing, "It's a long, long way to Tipperary." At the last moment, Mary pauses to turn off the lights as she exits. Goodbye, WJM-TV.
