In the series finale, a search effort unfolds as local volunteers comb through the countryside for the missing Isabelle. The search takes a grim turn when her mother identifies Isabelle's coat. Meanwhile, on New Year’s Day, tragedy strikes as the Smart family—Peter, Doris, and their 12-year-old son Michael—are found shot dead in their home. Detective Muncie places Manuel under constant surveillance and recruits ex-con Joe Brannon for assistance. Muncie makes a significant discovery: Peter Smart's wallet was found empty, while Brannon reveals that Manuel was recklessly spending cash on New Year's Day. A bank confirms Peter withdrew 15 pounds in new notes the night before. With this evidence, Muncie arrests Manuel and pushes for a confession.
