Episode Overview
Mel is in conversation with Detective Bruno, who informs her that he’s being removed from the case concerning the mysterious disappearance of her boyfriend, Rod Archer, a restaurant owner. Cole overhears their talk and transforms himself into Rod. Mel is initially distressed but soon realizes what Cole has done. Unable to change back, Cole decides to delve into Rod’s disappearance. Meanwhile, some associates of gangster Marco Sylvestri come after "Rod," leading to Cole being apprehended by the Feds and taken to a safe house 50 miles from Chicago. They reveal that Rod is in witness protection after faking his death to testify against Sylvestri and now has a new life, complete with a wife and newborn. However, a corrupt Fed leaks Rod's location to Sylvestri. To protect Rod and his family, Cole and Mel orchestrate their escape, with Cole posing as Rod and staging a fake death to secure crucial evidence against Sylvestri.
