The Rocky Mountains extend over 3,000 miles along the U.S.-Canadian frontier, featuring desolate alpine tundra regions. Rising to elevations of 14,000 feet, temperatures plummet by 3.5 degrees Fahrenheit for every thousand feet gained. As a result, only the most resilient mountain dwellers can withstand the harsh climate, including the fur-clad mountain goats and the extraordinary hoary marmot.
