Episode Overview

In 1827 Virginia, a spirited young man named Jacob Wheeler yearns for adventure. He bids farewell to his family and sets off with the legendary mountain man Jedediah Smith on a journey to California. At the same time, a young Lakota holy man known as Loved by the Buffalo experiences troubling visions about the encroachment of white settlers and the fate of the buffalo. When Jacob rescues his sister, Thunder Heart Woman, the destinies of their two families become inextricably linked, setting the stage for a profound connection amidst changing times.
