Pingu (1986)

Episode Overview

The schoolmaster explains to the students how to care for the classroom pet, a green crab, and asks who wants to take on the responsibility. Everyone eagerly raises their hands, but Pingu is the most enthusiastic, and the schoolmaster selects him. Pingu approaches the crab and gently pats its claw, only to have it clamp down on his beak. Proudly, he takes the crab home to show Mother and Pinga, placing the tank on the table and removing the lid. When he reaches in to pet the crab again, it clamps his beak once more! While Mother comforts him, the crab escapes, and Pinga follows. They discover that the crab is coloring on Pinga's drawing, much to their surprise. After Mother steps away, Pingu tries to return the crab to its tank, but it defiantly clacks its claws and attempts to bite him. When Pingu looks away, the crab scurries off and hides.
