Episode Overview

Sara Crewe relocates from Africa to London with her father, who soon departs for war. He enrolls her in an elite boarding school under the watchful eye of a strict headmistress. There, Sara faces bullying from her peers but finds companionship in an unusual girl and a young servant. Tragedy strikes when she learns of her father's death and the loss of his wealth, leaving her to continue at the school in a servant's role. Generous at heart, she shares her meager meals and reads the Bible to her friends. Meanwhile, one of her father's acquaintances searches for her in vain, eventually forming a bond with a poor servant girl next door, only to discover she is Sara and decides to adopt her.
