Will and Beanpole take on the role of clowns in Ali Pasha's circus, hoping to find a way back to the White Mountains to warn the free men about the Masters' plans for Earth. However, their scheme is thwarted when Ali betrays them, revealing his intention to hand them over to the Tripods in exchange for his long-desired capping.
