Sloane takes a brief hiatus from his role as Director of the Task Force, handing over complete control to Jack for an upcoming mission centered on Anna Espinosa, an old adversary of Sydney's. However, Anna gains the upper hand by capturing Nadia and compelling Sydney to comply with her demands. During this tense situation, Sydney reveals the ominous Rambaldi prophecy that foretells a battle between two sisters, with only one destined to survive. Meanwhile, Vaughn confronts Sark in an attempt to manipulate him into assisting their efforts to apprehend Anna. Ultimately, one sister suffers a fatal injury at Anna's hands.
