Aneesa and her mother continue to face tension during their phone conversations. Her mom insists that Aneesa should try to suppress her identity while in Chicago and simply enjoy herself. However, Aneesa yearns to embrace who she truly is, especially after meeting Veronica at the Red Dog's gay night. Their chemistry is undeniable, leading to a passionate encounter in the elevator of the loft. Meanwhile, the non-lifeguards are diving into their first real day of work. They meet the children who will be collaborating with them on a mural, along with Lara, the manager from the Chicago Parks District. As they brainstorm ideas for the mural, Tonya and Theo begin to grasp the significant influence they can have on these children's lives.
